Folksy appliqué from Night Owl Quilting

Leslie brought this cozy quilt with a mix of pieced blocks and appliqué .  We opted for an edge to edge design, which sometimes is the best choice, even over applique which might come as a surprise to some.

We used the Fanciful Fliers pantograph and one of my favorite threads to blend with both reds and greens in a quilt - So Fine #489 Lewis and Clark.  This is a budget friendly option that recedes into the background and lets the fabric and appliqué be the star.

There is never one right way to quilt a quilt, so consider all the ...

I just love how the quilting shows up on the fun orange Fireside backing.

Improv Baby Stars from Night Owl Quilting

This quilt was made by my friend and first time grandma Dawn for her granddaughter.  Dawn is fun and bold with her quilting and this quilt totally is her style.

I love all the fun and ecclectic prints she included.   The Fanciful Fliers pantograph seemed to play into the whimsy of the quilt perfectly.

Woven Dreams from Night Owl Quilting

Tannis made this charming quilt using the Bee Grateful fabric line by Deb Strain for Moda.  The pattern is from Kansas Troubles called Woven Dreams.

Tannis chose the Fanciful Fliers pantograph. I did something that I don't normally do and used a contrasting thread on the back.  The yellow thread and pantograph pattern add some interest to the solid black backing fabric that Tannis provided.

Two Fabric Bargello and more from Night Owl Quilting

Carol brought three lovely quilts for me to help her finish.  First up is this Two Fabric Bargello.  Carol chose the Ebb and Flow pantograph beautiful turquoise shiny Magnifico thread.

For this Drunkard's path quilt Carol opted for the Fascination pantograph, and I always love the movement it adds.

And last up is the beautiful Queen sized quilt that gives me beachy Caribbean vibes.  The Fanciful Fliers pantograph was the choice and a turquoise thread to add a pop to the front that coordinated with the back.

Charming Butterflies from Night Owl Quilting

Cindy brought this cheerful quilt that she made for her granddaughter.  The pattern is called Charming Butterflies by Holly Daniels and was originally published in the August 2012 issue of Quilter's World magazine but is now available through e-patterns central.

When I suggested the Fanciful Fliers pantograph Cindy was in total agreement.  The pantograph looks fabulous on the teal Cuddletex backing that Cindy provided.  Cindy said she really didn't love the color, but it matched the top perfectly and her granddaughter loves the color which is most important.

Most of the quilts that come through my studio go ...

Little Owl & More from Night Owl Quilting

I have been so busy quilting that I haven't kept up with sharing photos.  Time to change that and share 3 lovely little quilts today.  First up is a joint baby gift made by Shalane with support from Reneta and Amy.  The pattern is called Little Owl by Bound Co.

The group quickly agreed on the Gingersnap pantograph to finish off this darling project.

Next up is a little quilt Reneta put together with the leftover from her Patchwork Swoon Quilt.  Reneta brought the leftover blocks and fabrics to our retreat and popped them up on the design wall ...

Four Lovely Quilts from Night Owl Quilting

In the spirit of catching up on sharing more of the lovely quilts that have been hiding on my camera roll I have four more for you today!  First up are two from Mitzie.  The first one, Mitzie referred to as her "Arizona quilt.'  After I sent some pantograph options, Mitzie decided that the Breath of the gods pantograph was just the look to complete her vision.

The next quilt was a result of a charm pack and some stash fabric and some creativity.  It was going to her granddaughter so the Fanciful Fliers pantograph was just the right fit ...

The Hood from Night Owl Quilting

Marion brought this most unique quilt that she made out of her Tula Pink fabric stash.  The pattern is called "The Hood" and is from the book Quilt with Tula and Angela.  The layout is one of the most unique I have seen in a long time.

The quilt is a generous queen size.  Marion requested low density quilting and settled on the "Fanciful Fliers" pantograph as she also liked the thought of the butterflies flitting around the neighborhood.

Marion took a lot of care fussy cutting motifs for the houses and matching all the interesting prints so carefully.  Here ...
